Slatin Pasha was appointed by General Gordon to the post of Governor of Darfur, Sudan, 1878 (?); British Inspector-General of the Sudan 1900-1914. Baron of the Austrian Empire, 1906; Knight Commander of the Order of St Michael and St George, 1898, Knight Commander of the Victorian Order, 1908.
