Masalit or Masara in the language of Masalit, are an ethnic group that inhabits the Darfur region in western Sudan and the valley region in eastern Chad. Their official language is Masalit. Their number reached about 250,000 people in 1983. During (1884-1921) that group established a state under the name of Dar Al Masalit, and they are known for their strong adherence to Islam.
