An article describing the district of Dar Furnung which to the East is inhabited by the Tanjir (or Tenqur) people. They are a Sunni ethnic group found in Eastern Chad and Western Sudan. The ethnic roots of the Tangjur people are unknown. In fact, as Gustav Nachtigal noted, they resemble the features and behavior of Arabs. Other scholars suggest that they have non-Muslim Nile roots, and are from the Nile River region
