On the difficulties to gather information regarding Kasalā as ʿUthmān Diqna cannot find someone whom he trusts who can sagely enter the town; some of the leaders of Sawākin spending some of the autumn in Sinkāt (Awkāk) to escape the heat in Sawākin; the riparian lands have received water and can be cultivated, but no rain has yet fallen on the fields in the open country.
