On the Khalīfa's instruction to ʿUthmān Diqna and Musāʿid Qīdūm are to be kept informed on the position of the enemies as well as on the state of the Mahdist troops with ʿUthmān Diqna. Both ʿUthmān Diqna and Musāʿid Qīdūm should appoint someone of trust to serve as liaison with the Khalīfa.
