ʿUthmān Diqna confirms having received the letter of Al-Zākī Ṭamal in which the latter had informed him that he had appointed Jābir al-Tayyib to take care of the welfare of the anṣār in Gadarif, warned the ʿāmil of this city and several tribal heads of their coming and to allow their men to join ʿUthmān Diqna, and finally he apologised for not being able to meet with ʿUthmān Diqna. ʿUthmān Diqna thanks him for his help and mentions that two cows and two camels were sacrificed upon their arrival. ʿUthmān Diqna informs al-Zākī Ṭamal that 144 combatants joined him there.
