In connection with the enquiry of the Khalīfa regarding the quality of the siege of the earthworks, ʿUthmān Diqna informs him that they had to withdraw due to the attacks by the enemy and he complains about the weariness of the heads (ruʾasāʾ) of the anṣār from the outcome of the siege. He refutes the determination of the Egyptian army to attack him.
