Letter from all the traders and their dependents from Maṣūwaʿ and [?] to the delegates (umanāʾ)
Letter from the umanāʾ to Abū Qarja
Letter from Abū Qarja to umanāʾ
Traders claim that they were coerced into loaning money to the treasury. Since the situation has deteriorated, they asked for its reimbursement, either in cash or in produce, but were informed that the treasury was empty. They wish to bring the matter to the Khalīfa.
The delegates (umanāʾ) inform him of the petition sent by the traders and ask clarity as to the conditions of the loan and its reimbursement.
Abū Qarja replies that the loan was not coerced but was authorisation by ʿUthmān Diqna, and that the treasury is indeed empty.
