Reports information gathered by the Intelligence Office in Halfa, at the border with Mahdist Sudan, one year prior to the launch of the British conquest. The information was brought to them by “Secret agent n°1”. Among other news, this agent declared that the Khalīfa Muḥammad Sharīf, imprisoned after the 1891 revolt of the Ashrāf, had been set free, and that Yaʿqūb, the brother of the Khalīfa, had lost his position.
